It’s supposed to be 80 degrees here all weekend.
This is what I’ve been waiting for. Bright and sunny – a perfect day for homemade limoncello.
I have a beautiful lemon tree in my dining room
No – these lemons did not come from my little tree.
I have only gotten 1 lemon from my tree so far.
I’ve been soaking my (boughten) lemon peels for over 2 weeks now and they are finally ready.
I have made this recipe 1 other time. It lasts forever.
I shouldn’t say that….it lasts forever at our house 🙂
Peel off the rind of about 15 lemons.
Try to get as little of the white as possible. The white is very bitter.
Let sit in 1.75 liters of vodka for at least 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks mix in the simple syrup and let it sit again overnight.
Just strain out the lemon peels and put in a container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month or in the freezer.
You can drink it with a little gingerale; with prosecco and frozen raspberries, drizzled over fruit or drizzled over vanilla ice cream.
What the hey – drink it on the rocks.
Use your imagination!
