I recently starting sprouting my own seeds. I LOVE sandwiches with a big ol’ bunch of sprouts.
I’ve only found alfalfa sprouts in the grocery store here – non organic of course. I can’t get the image of some guy with rubber boots and a giant hose spraying roundup all over my sprouts while I’m biting into my turkey sandwich. Not too appetizing. I thought it would be so much harder than it actually is! I ordered my sprouts that included a mixture of alfalfa, french lentil, mung, daikon radish, clover, green pea, garbanzo, broccoli and hard wheat. Following the directions, I soaked the seeds for 24 hours.
After the initial soaking – you rinse the seeds and drain the water out of the jar so there is nothing but wet seeds.
I found a sprouting lid that works great. My mom uses a piece of screen that works just as well. All you have to do is rinse the seeds every 12 hours (I do when I get up in the morning and before I go to bed at night).
You can’t tell me that doesn’t look good.
It got 2 thumbs up …. well… 1
